June 10th

National

More than half of states may be undercounting coronavirus cases by not following CDC guidelines-CNN. At least 28 states are not following US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines on reporting new Covid-19 cases — half of which saw the trend of new cases increasing in the last week.

Hospitalizations in at least nine states are on the rise; U.S. nears 2 million cases-Washington Post. As the number of new coronavirus cases continues to increase worldwide, and more than a dozen states and Puerto Rico are recording their highest seven-day average of new cases since the pandemic began, hospitalizations in at least nine states have been on the rise since Memorial Day.

States

19 states see rising coronavirus cases and Arizona is asking its hospitals to activate emergency plans-CNN. Health experts have long warned about a second peak in Covid-19. Arizona is one of 19 states with the trend of new coronavirus cases still increasing. While 24 are trending downward, seven are holding steady.

California

California, Southwest face new coronavirus woes as U.S. economy reopens-Reuters. Coronavirus cases and hospitalizations are spiking in parts of California and the U.S. Southwest. This is prompting Arizona to reactivate its emergency plan for medical facilities and California to place half its population lives on a watch list.

Missouri

Missouri puts brakes on more road construction projects amid pandemic-St. Louis Post-Dispatch. An estimated 20 road construction projects across Missouri are on hold after Gov. Mike Parson slashed state spending last week because of the coronavirus.

New York

These Are the NYC Neighborhoods Still Experiencing Alarming COVID-19 Infection Rates-NBC New York. Gov. Andew Cuomo said he will keep a close eye on certain neighborhoods where infection rates are still extremely high compared to the citywide average. The hot spots are in neighborhoods in the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn. The infection rates here are dramatically high, compared to the 19.9 percent rate of all of New York City.

Contractors hire medical professionals for COVID-19 guidance, site visits-Construction Dive. From temperature-taking nurses to infectious disease control consultants, contractors are partnering with medical experts to create strategies for healthy jobsites and offices.

Construction Industry Against Proposed COVID-19 Protect Every Worker Act-For Construction Pros. The act would compel OSHA to issue an emergency temporary standard and subsequent permanent standard for infectious diseases.

Soon Your Building Might Have A COVID-19 Safety Rating-BisNow. The International WELL Building Institute has launched a new standard to rate how well a building protects its occupants from the transmission of the novel coronavirus.
