DBIA and COVID-19 FAQs

DBIA Answers Your Frequently Asked Questions

During this uncertain time, DBIA will continue to update our community and attendees on the latest information available on conferences, classes, and events. You can see a compilation of all our messages here.

Following are the answers to your most frequently asked questions:

Will my registration fee for canceled DBIA conferences and/or education courses/workshops be refunded?

Upon written request, you’ll receive a full refund for your registration fees for canceled conferences and workshops.  Registrants for DBIA education courses/workshops have the option to transfer their registration to a class later in the year.  This request should also be in writing.

What are my options with the cancelation of the Design-Build for Transportation and Design-Build for Water/Wastewater Conferences?

1) You may roll over your registration to the 2021 Water/Wastewater and Transportation/Aviation events to be held March 22-26 in Seattle. Your registration may also be transferred to the 2020 Design-Build Conference & Expo, October 28-30 in National Harbor, Maryland (DC Metro area), which has been expanded to include:

      • Full track of education on Water/Wastewater
      • Full track of education on Transportation/Aviation
      • Full track of education on Technology
      • Expanded expo hall with:
          • Civil Infrastructure “Boulevard”
          • Technology Pavilion
      • An added networking opportunity specifically designed to connect individuals from these important market sectors

Email your registration request to conferences@dbia.org

2) You may request an immediate, full refund of your registration costs.  No cancellation fee will be assessed.

As an attendee, how do I request a refund or a transfer?

Email your request to conferences@dbia.org.

When will my registration refund be issued? How long will it take?

We will make every effort to process your refund within 45 days.

If I had an Owner Scholarship to a conference, will I be able to use it for a future conference?

Yes, DBIA will allow Owner Scholars to attend a future DBIA conference without having to reapply.  DBIA staff will be in touch with scholars directly with more information on this.  In the interim, questions related directly to Owner Scholarships can be sent to owners@dbia.org.

How do I contact registration?

Email meetings@dbia.org. Customer service is available Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, EST.  However, given the large demand, please allow for longer response times than usual. DBIA promises we’ll respond as soon as possible.

How do I cancel my conference hotel reservation?

Please contact the hotel directly to cancel your reservation.

Is DBIA refunding travel or other transportation costs?

DBIA will not refund individual travel costs. Check with your airline regarding their refund policy.

Will exhibitors and sponsors for the Design-Build in Water/Wastewater and Design-Build for Transportation conferences receive a refund?

Exhibitors and sponsors have the option to use their credit for the rescheduled event later this year or apply it to the 2021 conference being held March 22-26 in Seattle, WA.  Contact our sales representative – Pat Wilson.

How will I earn my continuing education credits?

As we all “wait and see” as it relates to opportunities for face-to-face meetings, DBIA has numerous online options available including archived webinars and conference recordings for which you can receive continuing education credit.

Will my DBIA Region or Chapter event be canceled?

Please contact the DBIA Region directly to inquire about local events.

Can I take my Design-Build Certification test?

DBIA’s certification testing centers (managed by Prometric) will be closed for 30 days, starting March 17; therefore, we can not offer DBIA certification tests until at least mid-April. We will keep you up to date as new information is available. DBIA will reach out directly to certification candidates with more scheduling details. You can still register to take the certification exam but only for dates after the scheduled closing.
