Breakfast Meeting – Geomatics Data: Putting the Past, Present, and Future Into Your Design-Build Workflow

September 22, 2021 @ 7:15 am - 9:30 am CDT

The revolution in geo-data acquisition, availability, awareness, and assessment is happening. With awareness of building and infrastructure aging, use-ware, and performance now a topic on many minds following recent tragic events, many are considering not just smart cities, but “smart-buildings” – or at least structures and site asset awareness that is rooted in historical review, current status, and proactive management. Geo-data includes site history, design parameters and attributes, BIM, plans, construction, hand-over, and asset management. Join us as John Metzger presents this innovative and exciting new approach to infrastructure management.

About the Speaker

John Metzger is Manager and Geomatics Counselor for AssetAssurance Monitoring in Fishers, Indiana. He is also the Geomatics Services Counselor for SkyGeo Inc. With over 16 years’ experience in terrestrial data collection and radar monitoring, safety/events deployment coordination, and results dissemination, he has the rare opportunity to leverage this experience, field successes, and sector connections to make a new opportunity available for wide-area data acquisition, decision supporting monitoring, and analysis. We will be creating new synergies among instrumentation outputs and focusing results on aligned data products. John was recently a Business Development Technologist and the Geomatics Services Group Project Coordinator for IDS GeoRadar in Golden, CO. Previously John supported international development projects and was an IT entrepreneur for over 13 years in Africa. During his international tenure, John explored and implemented new technologies, data analysis, and delivery systems. He has worked extensively on mine sites during live Pit Asset “events” successfully ensuring the data realized allows for the continuation of safety, operations, and production. Working at the nexus of operating sites’ Pit Asset Management. John provides significant lessons and realizations involving live data collection, analysis, and operational value provision. John holds AAS, and BS degrees from Rochester Institute of Technology, and an MA from Ball State University.
