ABOUT THE PRESENTATION:

The City of Houston is the midst of delivering a 320 MGD expansion to the Northeast Water Purification Plant using progressive design-build. The project is estimated to cost around $1.75B. The budget has increased significantly since the proposal phase as the Design-Builder, Ownership group, and Owner’s Advisor have collaboratively advanced the design and construction. In the process, seven amendments have been negotiated and executed. The process of negotiating amendments on a mega-project is difficult and has required the project teams to focus on what’s right and not who’s right. This presentation will share the story of the project and the negotiations that are leading to the successful completion of the largest WTP project in the United States.

PRESENTED BY:

Ravi Kaleyatodi, P.E., Assoc. DBIA
Project Director for the City of Houston’s NEWPP Expansion

Paul Walker, P.E.
Senior Vice President, Carollo Engineers, Inc., Houston
