Challenge Design-Build Project Delivery Addressed

As the first design-build project for the City of Bellflower, the team had a good deal to prove. By taking into account the needs and desires of the community, the team was able to overcome the challenge of heavy rainfall during excavation to deliver a popular and much-needed community center. It was successful to the extent that the City is now using design-build for new projects.

Summary

The Mayne Events Center + Fire Museum is a 22,000 square-foot two-story civic facility completed for the City of Bellflower. For many years, there was no place for the local citizens to gather in their own city and any major event required travel outside of their own community. Since opening in January 2018, the popular new facility is fully booked through 2019 – providing a much-needed service to the local community.
