Design-Build Team Summary

Challenge Design-Build Project Delivery Addressed

The design-build team had to work closely with the owner in order to accommodate the many requested changes to the project in both scope and major as well as minor elements. One design element, the unique multi-colored glass fins that wrap the entire building, was completely new to all parties involved and required special connection points.

Summary

The American Academy of Pediatrics relocated nearly 500 employees to a new 183,603-square-foot, state-of-the-art headquarters in Itasca, Illinois. Located in the Hamilton Lakes Business Park near O’Hare International Airport, the rectangular and curved building features an all-glass façade with ten-foot floor-to-ceiling windows around the perimeter. In the main entrance a large, open atrium rises to the third floor, welcoming guests and employees in grand fashion.
