  • The U.S. economy lost 23,000 jobs in July rather than adding the nearly 80,000 projected by some economists. Still, #construction saw gains, adding nearly 20,000 jobs for the month. 

Nonresidential specialty trade contractors accounted for most of the increase, adding 15,400 jobs during the month. The overall national unemployment rate edged down from 4.2% to 4.1%, attributed in large part to more people leaving the workforce.
