Challenge Design-Build Project Delivery Addressed
The design-build delivery method was specifically chosen to accelerate the design and construction schedule, ensure forward momentum at each stage, eliminate cost ambiguity, and safeguard a quality-level consistent with the expectations of the owner.
Summary
Cornish College of the Arts is a small, private, liberal arts school located in the heart of Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. In 2013, Cornish realized that their current housing stock was under-served and was simultaneously notified that it was losing its lease on their existing housing facilities. Faced with an urgent problem, the design-build team was able to deliver a state-of-the-art, live/learn facility for students, faculty, and staff on an accelerated schedule.
