Challenge Design-Build Project Delivery Addressed

Through teamwork and active communication with the community, the design-build team was able to achieve the owner’s goals while dealing with an 83-day delay in agency approval. In addition, striving to be a good neighbor, the team made sure that access to the community center, playing fields and the Veterans Wall of Honor were all available throughout the construction process.


C.W. Driver, in collaboration with Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects and Architect Manuel Oncina, were selected to provide a new 13,000-square-foot library for the County of San Diego (CSD) to serve the Alpine community. San Diego County Library (SDCL) won the prestigious 2012 Library of the Year award from Gale Cengage/Library Journal and the DB-E worked closely with CSD and SDCL to ensure the legacy of innovative programs/services, robust circulation of materials and flexible building spaces continues with the Alpine branch. In addition, the facility is the first County-owned Zero Energy Certified project and has achieved LEED Gold Certification.
