Sharp Memorial Hospital Seismic Renovation of South and Central Towers and ICU Remodel

Sharp Memorial Hospital Seismic Renovation of South and Central Towers and ICU Remodel

2014 | Healthcare Facilities | National Award — Merit

The existing Sharp Memorial Hospital needed to be upgraded from SPC-1 to SPC-2. Since the alternative was to demolish the existing building and build a complete new facility at a very high cost as well as taking the hospital out of commission for the duration, a renovation was the best alternative. The working conditions were challenging since all construction needed to be done while the hospital was in full use. Through design-build, the team delivered a fully compliant renovated building in 24 months and within the budget.
