2019 Design-Build Award Winners Announced

There’s a Better Way to Build – And These National Design-Build Award Winning Teams Prove It

2019 DBIA Awards Jury Meeting at DBIA National HeadquartersEach July, many of the nation’s leading design-build pros converge on Washington for two full days of scoring, deliberating and debating the merits of that year’s Design-Build Project/Team Award submissions. From the Aviation to Water/Wastewater sectors, and everything in between, the projects are diverse and often complex. DBIA awards jurors scour through hundreds of pages of project details looking for the best design-build projects in the nation. It’s not an easy task but one many of these jurors look forward to each and every year.

“This is one of my favorite events of the year. I truly enjoy seeing the incredible projects design-build teams are delivering all over the nation and the impressive creativity and innovations they’re bringing to projects of all types.”

— J.C. Arteaga, HNTB Corporation Senior Program Director – Architecture

This year DBIA awards jurors have chosen 31 projects as National Design-Build Project/Team Award Winners. These impressive projects show that as the use of design-build continues to grow in all sectors, with nearly half of all construction dollars to be spent on design-build projects, so has the number of extraordinary project successes.

“From huge multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects to a small community animal shelter, the incredible diversity in this year’s national design-build winners shows very clearly how design-build is changing the way America builds. The power of collaboration has energized our industry and delivered impressive innovation, resiliency and value to the communities these projects serve. DBIA is proud to honor this year’s design-build project and team winners. They are truly the best of the best and leading the way by designing and building some of the nation’s most remarkable projects.”

— Lisa Washington, CAE, DBIA Executive Director/CEO

Each of these Merit Award winners will now go on to compete for a National Award of Excellence and Project of the Year to be announced at DBIA’s Design-Build Conference and Expo Awards Ceremony in November.
