With 30+ years of experience in the architecture and construction industries, Mark Deaton has been involved in a variety of public and private projects using traditional delivery and alternative delivery methods. He has participated in value engineering efforts, collaborative project development, and various Design-Build/Progressive Design-Build and CMGC/CMAR processes.
As a Project Director for HNTB Architecture, Mark leads pursuits and designs for major aviation, sports, transit and government focused projects. He has experience managing teams for small to large projects and spent a decade leading a 40-member project team through a $500 million project portfolio with over 115 sites across the U.S.
For the past 15 years, he has served on several DBIA committees, the DBIA Kansas City Chapter and the Mid-America Region. Since 2011, Mark has been committed to the lasting success of DBIA through his service as a certified instructor. Leveraging his experience, involvement, education and mentorship, he continuously pursues his passion for DBIA and Design-Build Done Right®.
Mark earned Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Environmental Design degrees from the University of Kansas. He is a registered architect in both Missouri and Texas, a LEED-accredited professional, a class of 2021 DBIA Fellow and has been a designated DBIA Design-Build Professional® since 2004.
