Why Smart Students Jump-Start Their Careers with DBIA

Design-Build Student Competition

DBIA is committed to helping prepare the next design-build generation. First, with our student program and after getting their first job, DBIA’s young professional’s (YP) program. Design-build is especially attractive to younger generations for various reasons highlighted in this article by Trimble, a construction technology company.

“As younger generations enter the workforce, they are demanding a new set of workplace standards that will keep them fulfilled in their day-to-day and satisfied in the long-term. What does it take to get the top talent of the younger generation to come on board and stick around? Open and honest communication, positive core values, and professional connections top the list—all features of the design-build delivery method.”

DBIA Student Chapters

DBIA’s 28 student chapters bring together students of multiple disciplines and give them access to industry leaders and design-build resources. The best place to build your design-build resume and make industry connections is by joining your student chapter or starting one at your school.

Design-Build Student Competition

DBIA also hosts an annual Design-Build Student Competition providing a unique opportunity for students to face real-world design-build challenges by creating a project as a team and presenting it to industry leaders. It’s not unusual for team members to get job offers right there at the competition! The 2021 national champions from the University of Colorado-Boulder talk about the experience in our Design-Build Delivers podcast.
