Celebrating DBIA Designated Design-Build Professionals: December 22, 2020

Every year, hundreds of people undertake the training and education necessary to become a Designated Design-Build Professional.™ As the industry grows, so does the need for qualified professionals who practice Design-Build Done Right®. Featured below are just a few of the many industry professionals that are becoming DBIA certified. Congratulations to all!

Fred Robertson III, DBIA, PE, LEED APFred Robertson, DBIA

Fred Robertson III started out in the construction management industry after graduating from NC State University in 1999.  He has worked for both large General Contractors and Owners on large scale projects in the commercial office, healthcare, hospitality, government, and transit sectors.  He currently works as a Project Manager for capitally funded projects at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority in the Washington, DC area.

Brian Purdy, DBIA, RA, LEED APBrian Purdy, DBIA

Brian gained interest in design-build early in his architectural education. After receiving his MA, Brian worked for a handful of architecture and fully integrated design-build firms in New York City, leading both design and construction efforts for high-end residential, commercial, hospitality, and private educational work throughout the NY metropolitan area. He relocated to Portland in 2015 and now leads the growing integration of design and construction teams at O’Brien & Company as the Senior Design-Build Manager.

 

Stuart Samberg, DBIA, PE, PTOE, PTP, RSPStuart Samberg, DBIA

Stuart is a Senior Manager at RK&K in the Transportation Department, leading efforts throughout the Southeast. He is based in Richmond, Virginia, and is focused on large transportation investment projects. He currently serves as Committee Secretary for TRB’s Access Management Committee and teaches transportation planning classes at George Mason University.

 

Salvador Bentolila, Assoc. DBIA, PE, ENV SPSalvador Bentolila, DBIA

Originally from Venezuela, Salvador Bentolila graduated from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology and later on from Columbia University with a B.Sc and an M.Sc, respectively, in Civil Engineering. He has 7 years of experience in the water/wastewater industry across the US, Israel, Africa and UAE. He has devoted the last 4 years of his career working at AECOM in New York City focusing on climate resiliency, flood protection, water resources management and sustainability.

 

Christopher Allen, DBIA, AIAChristopher Allen, DBIA

Chris Allen is currently the Director of Design for fee-for-service projects in the Infrastructure and Transportation Group at The Haskell Company in Jacksonville, Florida. He has over 20 years of diversified architectural experience accumulated from a wide range of project-based creative explorations. He is a licensed architect in multiple states and has a strong track record of delivering successful integrated design/build projects with Haskell across the country. He is a past-president of AIA Jacksonville and is the 2019 recipient of the Chapter’s prestigious John W. Dyal Award for Leadership and Service to the Community.

Annie Chiang, DBIAAnnie Chiang, DBIA

Project Architect at SmithGroup, Annie Chiang is a vital design team member of the Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center Ocean View Tower, which was awarded DBIA’s 2019 Design-Build Project of the Year. Her experience has ranged from early programming and planning to delivery and construction administration for various scales of healthcare facilities in Southern California. With a background in Anthropology and Environmental Studies, her passion for design is strongly tied to human and environmental needs.
