WHEN DOES MY MEMBERSHIP EXPIRE?

Your membership term is 12 months and expires at the end of the month prior to your anniversary date when you first joined DBIA.

HOW QUICKLY CAN I ACCESS MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS AFTER SUBMITTING MY APPLICATION?

  • After completing your online application, you will be able to access benefits immediately. 
  • After submitting your PDF application by email, it takes approximately 48 hours for your application to be processed and active. 

You will receive an email confirmation once your application has been processed that includes your login information for DBIA’s online membership portal, Region information and other pertinent details.

AS AN INDUSTRY PARTNER (IP) MEMBER, HOW DO I IDENTIFY OUR FREE CONTACTS FOR DBIA?

Your welcome email will include a link you can send to your selected Benefit Members and Young Professional Benefit Members. Once completed, our membership team will add your benefit members to your account. 

AM I AUTOMATICALLY A MEMBER IF MY FIRM IS AN IP MEMBER?

No, while an Industry Partner membership guarantees member discounts to all employees, it does not automatically provide membership. To request to be added to your company’s membership, please contact membership@dbia.org. Additional costs may be incurred.

CAN I RENEW MY MEMBERSHIP DUES ONLINE?

Yes, all members can renew by logging into their Member Account. Industry Partner members, please note that the Admin and Primary Contact on the account are the only people who can renew for the company. You can also use the Renewal Form PDF and email it to membership@dbia.org .

DO I NEED TO PAY A SEPARATE FEE TO JOIN ONE OF DBIA’S REGIONS OR CHAPTERS?

No, your Region/Chapter membership is included with your National dues at no additional cost; your mailing address determines your regional affiliation.

I CHANGED COMPANIES/MY JOB TITLE HAS CHANGED. HOW DO I UPDATE THIS INFORMATION?

Please send your updated information to membership@dbia.org, and we will update it for you.

ARE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS FREE TO MEMBERS?

No, however, Members receive a 50% discount on contract documents through the DBIA Bookstore. To receive the discount, log into your membership profile and go to the Resources tab. The discount code is at the top of the page under Bookstore.

IS THE MANUAL OF PRACTICE FREE TO MEMBERS?

Yes, the Manual of Practice is free to members. To access the Manual, log into your profile and go to the Resources tab. The Manual is a series of links you can download directly from the Resources page.

ARE MY DBIA DUES TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

Dues are tax deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses under IRS Tax Code Section 162(3) except for that portion allocable to “lobbying” under Public Law #103-66. DBIA estimates that 97% of your dues payment is deductible and 3% non-deductible.

DOES MY MEMBERSHIP INCLUDE DBIA OR ASSOC. DBIA CERTIFICATION?

No, individuals must separately fulfill eligibility requirements and apply for DBIA Certification. To learn more, please visit Why Get Certified.

DOES RENEWING MY DBIA OR ASSOC. DBIA CERTIFICATION AUTOMATICALLY RENEW MY DBIA MEMBERSHIP?

No, membership is billed separately from certification.
