Mr. Crosby established the Crosby Group in 1992 and serves as President and Managing Principal. With over 40 years of experience, he has been an innovator in the field of structural engineering, and stays abreast of structural and seismic design solutions from around the world and has introduced several of these cutting edge technologies to projects in the United States and abroad. Patrick has led the engineering community in the implementation of passive energy dissipation devices (dampers), buckling restrained brace frames, fiber reinforced composites, and shock transmission units. The application of these technologies has resulted in safer buildings at a reduced cost to our valued clients.
Mr. Crosby has over 35 years’ experience working on design-build projects and has led his firm in embracing this delivery method. With over $6 Billion in Design-Build projects, the Crosby Group has led the engineering community in developing new models for the successful completion of Design-Build projects based on trust, respect and professionalism to promote true value to the client. Patrick’s experience includes the structural design of large award-winning multi-million dollar design-build projects for both the public and private sector including the California 10th & O Street State Legislative & Executive Office Building, US Southern Command Headquarters, SLAC Science & User Support Building, California Healthcare Facility, and the Air Force Technical Applications Center. This experience has led him to champion partnering and early team collaboration which leads to developing practical and efficient designs that expedite the construction process.
From 2012 to 2018, he served on the National Board of Directors for the Design Build Institute of America, where he worked to improve the design-build process for both the Owner and the DB team. He has also served as the DBIA Industry Liason for the U.S. State Department, served on the judging panel for the DBIA Student Design Competition, served on the evaluation committee for future DBIA Board Members, and has served as a member of the DBIA Industry Panel. Additionally, Mr. Crosby recently completed his two-year term on the Industry Advisory Group (IAG) for the U.S. State Department, Overseas Buildings Operations which advises the U.S. Government concerning industry and academia’s latest concepts, methods, best practices, innovations, and ideas related to OBO’s mission to provide safe, secure, functional, and resilient facilities. In 2022 Patrick was named a DBIA Fellow, in recognition of his commitment and extensive contributions to both DBIA and the design-build industry. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the DBIA, Western Pacific Region and serves on the Design Professionals’ Advisory/Engagement Committee to enhance design-build teaming agreements and engage more design professionals within the design build procurement world.
