Steve Grauer is Vice President and District Manager of the Western District at Hensel Phelps Construction Co. and serves as member of Hensel Phelps’ Board of Directors.
Mr. Grauer joined Hensel Phelps in 1990 and, located in Phoenix, is currently responsible for all aspects of the Western District operations, covering work in Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Southern Nevada.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Grauer was the Manager of Work Procurement for the International District, located in Aurora, Colo., and spend 16 years in the Southern California District in numerous operational positions including Field/Office Engineer, Project Engineer, Area Superintendent, Project Manager and Operations Manager. During his time with Hensel Phelps, Mr. Grauer has worked in California, Washington, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and Oklahoma and supported the company’s work abroad in Ireland, Germany, South Africa, the Caribbean and Israel.
Mr. Grauer has a wide variety of experience in the hospitality, medical, justice, multi-family residential, aviation, higher education, K-12, semi-conductor, transportation, defense, public works and commercial office sectors. Owners of these projects include numerous city, state and federal agencies, as well as small and Fortune 500 Companies in the private sector. These projects have utilized design-build, construction manager at risk and design-bid-build delivery methods procured use bid, negotiated and best value procurement strategies.
Mr. Grauer is active in the local community and serves on the Support Sky Harbor Coalition Board and the Legislative Committee of the Arizona Builders Alliance (ABA), as well as supporting other associations and groups in the Valley which serve to advance the construction industry and construction education.
Mr. Grauer received a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management from the University of Washington in 1986 and spent his first four years after graduating working for Blount Construction Group on projects in Washington and California.
