Design-Build Team Summary

Challenge Design-Build Project Delivery Addressed

Challenges started from the inception of the project with the underground utilities that feed the existing facility. The entire airport’s hydronic piping (heating and chilled water), fire water and domestic water supply lines ran through the center of the project’s foundations. This challenge was met by relocating these systems into their planned location within the perimeter of the footprint of the facility, prior to the facility being built around them. This had to be performed with skillful precision to eliminate the impact this enabling effort would cause if not executed

With design-build delivery, team dynamic is especially important, and depending on how the team is compiled the project can either succeed or fail. This project team consisted of Hensel Phelps and Page, a team that has worked together for over 28 years forming the synergy required to deliver a successful project with an outstanding design. The design-build team excelled in every way on the project producing a building that overcame challenges, showed management excellence, innovation and state-of-the-art technologies, was sensitive to the environment, contributed to the greater Austin community and provided a high level of client service.
