Clifton Water District Microfiltration/Ultrafiltration Water Treatment Plant

Challenge Design-Build Project Delivery Addressed

The Owner saw three main challenges with this project:

  1. Maintaining constant communication between owner, designer and contractor
  2. Keeping the plant operational during construction
  3. Completing the project on an extremely aggressive schedule

The only delivery method that could possibly accomplish those goals was design-build.

Summary

The Clifton Water District selected the Carollo Design-Build Group to help them add a new Microfiltration/Ultrafiltration system to their water treatment plant. Carollo used an “open platform” design approach that gave the District more operational flexibility and reduced costs. A strong teaming partnership helped the project go from 40 percent design to an operational plant in just 14 months, and the District’s operators have found that the plant operation exceeds the team’s performance guarantees.
