Solano Community College Biotechnology and Science Building

Challenge Design-Build Project Delivery Addressed

Solano Community College, wanting to offer a four-year baccalaureate program in biotechnology, would have to have the building ready for the program to start in less than three years. Design-build offered the only way to have the building completed and ready to accept students in that time and within the school’s tight budget. The team was able to push permits through at an amazing speed, allowing the school’s goals to be met.

Summary

The Biotechnology and Science Building at Solano Community College is a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary science facility housing a new four-year Biotechnology program and science laboratories for SCC’s new four-year Biotechnology program – one of only two four-year programs offered at a California community college. Located in the heart of the American bio-manufacturing industry, this project was delivered successfully under budget and four months ahead of schedule by a team committed to excellence in procurement, design, construction and collaboration.
