St. Luke's Surgical & Procedural Care Expansion

Challenge Design-Build Project Delivery Addressed

ERDMAN previously competed and won the opportunity to design and build the initial five-story facility. One floor of this facility was intended for a future surgical suite. Having achieved superior results initially, St. Luke’s engaged ERDMAN to expand surgical services on the third floor without considering other competitive firms.

Summary

St. Luke’s Hospital’s ultimate goal was to bring the latest in surgical and integrated imaging technology to its patients in and around the Duluth area. The hospital’s surgery department was expanded in the new building by adding two hybrid 1,200-square-foot operating rooms, four general surgery operating rooms (one with a DaVinci robot), one EP/IR/Cath Lab room, four endoscopy procedure rooms, one bronchoscopy procedure room and a café.
