Challenge Design-Build Project Delivery Addressed

LA County Department of Public Works delivers high-performing public facilities for people and services to thrive. The Department’s primary objective in choosing design-build was to bring the best available designers and contractors together to address unique challenges in collaboration with the County to successfully deliver and meet the County’s criteria.

Summary

On a seven-acre campus, this new LEED Gold 216,000-square-foot, five-story Family Support Center and 1,326-stall, six-level Parking Structure in the San Fernando Valley consolidated seven L.A. County family services departments into one location which serves the most vulnerable and disadvantaged residents of the Valley. The project created a community-friendly, park-like campus; provided a safe, welcoming and sustainable environment for the facility’s clients; and promoted interdepartmental collaboration among 1,000 employees calling the new building home.
