National

Nearly half of US states are reporting a rise in new coronavirus cases-CNN. The first wave of coronavirus in the US isn’t over. Nearly half of states are reporting a rise in new cases and some continue to break records in daily reported cases. Across the US, experts continue to repeat the need for social distancing and face covers.

U.S. reports more than 30,000 coronavirus cases two days straight, the highest number since May 1-CNBC. The U.S reported more than 30,000 new coronavirus cases on Friday and Saturday, the highest daily totals since May 1. New cases across the country are surging faster than ever, especially in states in the South, West and Midwest.

States

12 states have set record highs in new COVID-19 cases since Friday-ABC News. A dozen states have seen record highs of new COVID-19 cases since Friday. The states that saw the increase include Florida, Texas, South Carolina, Arizona, California, Tennessee and Oklahoma, according to the analysis of state-released data compiled by the COVID Tracking Project.

California

Record number of Californians hospitalized with COVID-19-San Francisco Chronicle. The number of people hospitalized in California with confirmed cases of COVID-19 reached its highest point Saturday since the onset of the pandemic. There were 3,574 confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in state hospitals, the highest total since at least April 1.

Florida

Coronavirus: Florida, Duval County set new single-day records for cases — again-The Florida Times-Union. Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties and the state of Florida reached new single-day highs for the number of coronavirus cases, according to the state Department of Health.

Texas

Models Show How Fast Coronavirus Could Spread in Texas-The Rivard Report. Texas is experiencing its highest-ever incline in the number of new coronavirus cases per day. The state has more than 35,000 active cases. By early July, that number could rise from more than 54,000 to more than 120,000, depending on residents’ mobility and how quickly the state continues to ramp up testing.

Construction productivity stats approach precoronavirus levels-Construction Dive. Statistics are indicating construction work may be approaching precoronavirus numbers. Recent numbers of worker hours are comparable, or in some cases higher, than those on March 1, the last week before shutdowns began.

AIA releases strategies and illustrations for reducing risk of COVID-19 in schools-Building Design+Construction. In an effort to support the health, safety and wellbeing of students, AIA is releasing 3D design models and strategies today that can assist education officials with reopening schools during the pandemic.

Will contactless technology be a priority for post-COVID-19 workplace?-MPA. The workplace is being reimagined to with the goal of conforming new health and safety regulations that will no doubt be a big part of re-entry plans across the globe. But what role will technology play as companies look to reduce contamination on high touch surfaces?
