Lean is not only for IPD projects, but is particularly well-suited for use in design-build. During this session, Terri Erickson and Josh Singsank will take time to explore how Lean reinforces Design-Build Done Right® by demonstrating how Lean practices & tools are aligned towards similar goals of design-build.

Lean is a mind-shift that supports any project delivery method. Join us as we introduce the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) and current Lean approaches in both construction & design. Lean methods seek to increase team synchronization & productivity, reduce waste, increase overall value, improve schedule reliability, and improve continuously. This session will include a brief introduction to Lean foundational concepts including 8 wastes, 5S, Gemba Walks, and Last Planner System®.

You will develop an introductory understanding of Lean, why it is being used in the industry, and current examples of Lean applications with real project examples. Expect to walk away with simple ideas to begin implementing Lean on your team or in your project’s design process no matter how the delivery contract is structured.
