Higher Ed Outlook: Presented by DBIA Inland Northwest

Our virtual meeting discussion will touch on 3, 5 & 10 year higher education construction outlooks, funding impacts, long-term impacts for on-line learning and changes to traditional pedagogies.

Speakers

Chris Eichorst
Assistant Vice Principal of Facilities Services
Whitworth University
Chris directs the day-to-day operations of the physical campus, as well as to plan for future needs. Chris oversees facility maintenance, grounds services, custodial services, capital projects, and master planning for campus. Chris is a retired Air Force Office with 22 1/2 years of active duty. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M, a Master of Engineering Management from WSU-Spokane and an MS in Systems Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology.

Joe Kline, PE, CCM
Assistant V.P., Facilities Services
Washington State University
Joe served as a construction manager and a project manager at Washington State University prior to his current role. Before arriving at WSU, Joe worked as a construction manager and project manager at Iowa State University and the University of Idaho. Joe also delivered projects in his role as an officer in the Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps, primarily in Northern California. He has been directly involved in the construction of over 20 major new facilities as a project manager and now manages a staff of 150 to deliver all public works projects and operate and maintain facilities at Washington State University. Joe has over 25 year’s experience delivering design-bid-build, GC/CM, and Design Build projects.

Olivia Yang
Associate Vice President for Facilities Services
Washington State University
Olivia oversees campus planning, capital design and construction projects for all WSU campuses, as well as maintenance and operations on the Pullman campus. She serves as the University Architect and holds a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Washington. Her professional associations include DBIA and the AIA. She has served on the State of Washington’s Capital Project Advisory Review Board advising the State legislature on public works procurement.

Clint Brown (Clint)
Director of Capital for the Community Colleges of Spokane
Clint is responsible for the development and implementation of capital projects and campus master planning. He manages state and locally allocated construction funds, construction and design standards, as well as district capital archives. With over 20 years in the construction industry, Clint’s expertise ranges from the design of engineered wood products and material sales to commercial construction project engineering, management, and planning.
Clint holds a B.S. Degree from the University of Washington.
