National

U.S. Coronavirus Death Toll Hits 170,000 Ahead of Fall Flu Season-U.S. News & World Report. The U.S. surpassed 170,000 coronavirus deaths on Sunday as health officials express concerns over COVID-19 complicating the fall flu season. Deaths rose by 483 on Sunday, with Florida, Texas and Louisiana.

U.S. Cases Slow as Deaths Pass 1,000 for Fifth Day: Virus Update-Bloomberg News. The U.S. added 47,813 virus cases, a 0.9% rise that compares with a 1% increase over the previous week. Nationwide deaths exceeded 1,000 for the fifth consecutive day. A measure of intensive-care hospitalizations in California rose to the highest in seven weeks.

States

California

California becomes first state to pass 600,000 coronavirus cases-Yahoo News. The state of California has become the first state in the nation to surpass 600,000 confirmed coronavirus cases. As of Friday evening, there were more than 609,000 recorded cases. The state also has reported over 11,000 deaths.

Florida

New COVID-19 cases in Florida and Miami-Dade lowest since June, positive test rates fall-Miami Herald. Sunday’s COVID-19 dashboard update from the Florida Department of Health featured the lowest new case numbers for Florida since June. Florida had 3,779 new cases.

Maryland

Coronavirus Latest: Maryland Becomes 19th State To Top 100K Total COVID-19 Cases-CBS Baltimore. As of Sunday morning, the state’s health department shows a total of 100,212 COVID-19 cases, up 519 from Saturday. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 18 other states have topped the 100,000-case threshold. California leads the nation with more than 600,000 total cases.

Texas

COVID-19 updates: Texas approaches 10,000 deaths as Dallas County reports thousands of cases from state backlog-WFAA TV. Nearly 10,000 people have died in Texas from COVID-19 since tracking began in March, state officials reported Sunday, as state data backlogs continue to plague counties’ tracing efforts.

Harvard Studies Bring Data To How We Are Working Now And What That Means For Offices-BisNow. Researchers from Harvard University conducted two studies recent studies that will be significant in trying to assess how people and companies will use office space in the future. One survey was completed by tracking emails and digital calendars, while the other surveyed office workers.

Building a factory during a pandemic: an owner’s perspective-Construction Dive. The Executive Chair Gathered Foods gives his perspective on a new custom-built factory. The factory, designed and built from the ground up for the company’s current and future production needs in the U.S., was completed during the pandemic and has been making products since the end of May.
