Robynne Thaxton, JD, DBIA, is a Seattle based lawyer and the principal of Thaxton Parkinson PLLC. With over 24 years’ experience, Robynne is one of the leading experts in construction law and alternative procurement both in Washington State and on a national basis. In addition to being on the Design-Build Institute of America National Board of Directors Executive Committee, she is the co-chair of the National DBIA Legal Committee, and was the 2012 DBIA National Convention Planning Committee Chair. She is also the co-chair of the Legislation Committee for the DBIA NW Region.

Named as a Washington “Super Lawyer” from 2010 – 2013, Robynne’s legal career started in the Anchorage and Seattle offices of Perkins Coie. Prior to forming her own firm, she was Of Counsel and a Partner at Groff Murphy PLLC, one of the premier construction law firms in the Northwest. She also spent two years as an adjunct professor for Seattle University’s Albers School of Business and is a frequent lecturer for universities and industry organizations such as ABA, DBIA, AGC, ACEC, LCI, COAA, CalPoly University, George Mason University, the University of Washington and Washington State University. Robynne recently represented the DBIA and AIA in co-authoring an amicus brief in Metcalf Construction v. U.S. before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and was a speaker for a webinar for the American Bar Association discussing the case. Robynne received her Juris Doctor in 1989 from the University of Colorado School of Law and her undergraduate degree in 1986 from the University of Texas at Austin.
